Business Development Specialist

This is a hybrid position requiring 3 days in office at our Hartford, CT office location.

CapSpecialty is seeking a Business Development Specialist who will work closely with the Business Development Manager to assist in monitoring key performance metrics of distribution partners and provide continuous feedback to producing office leads and producers to assure awareness with current results.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring key performance metrics of distribution partners.
  • Assist with putting together production reports and other data maintenance for Specialty Casualty teams.
  • Creating user logins for the DragonX team according to the distribution rules and broker assignments currently in place.
  • Maintaining the DragonX MailChimp website for marketing campaigns.
  • Supporting the Specialty Casualty teams under the guidance of the Business Development Manager with the gathering of information for 'Meet The Team' and quarterly success stories.
  • Helping external partners and internal teams with questions about the product contracts, existing appointments and how to access said products.
  • Support the Business Development Manager with issues that arise with both underwriters and brokers in our daily operations and business processing in support of team goal and objectives.
  • Perform other tasks of assigned.

  • Technically competent in all standard business software applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent.
  • 1+ years casualty commercial underwriting experience including experience with internal and broker facing underwriting portals preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Fill in on the occasional broker visits when manager is already traveling - up to 25% travel.
  • May be required to lift up to 10 lbs. at times.
